The Lubbock MLS is currently showing 1,079 single family properties for sale in the Lubbock area.  This is a 21% reduction in the number of properties available only a year ago.

Many signs are pointing to a boom on it's way for Lubbock as a support base for the oil activity nearby called the Cline Shale formation.  This is reputed to be the largest inland oil field since the Prudhoe Bay discovery in the late 1970's.  Large support companies like Haliburton have already begun setting up locations in the industrial complex by the airport

Owning is currently much less expensive than renting. 

Current interest rates for 30 year loans are 2 7/8% on FHA/VA and 3 1/8  for conventional.  15 year loans are 2 1/2 % FHA and 2 1/2 % conventional with no discount points.
